Whale Watch Sail - Lahaina, Maui Hawaii

It was supposed to be the end of the season, but the whales were still in the area. We had the most amazing experience of seeing several whales. They placed a microphone in the water for us to hear the sounds of the surrounding whales. But the best part of the sail was the several minutes we watched as a mother and her calf breached the water...one after another...as if the mother was teaching her calf how to do it. It was one of the most incredible things I had ever seen. Even the crew, as well as all the other passengers, were pleasantly surprised and blessed with this theatre. The boat was the Ocean Spirit Sailing Catamaran. I will never forget this experience. Great 'all woman' crew! A wonderful way to spend the afternoon on the water.

Whale watch sail

My wife and I went on 2 whale watch outings on the Ocean Spirit during our trip to Maui. We really enjoyed the smaller size and less crowded feel the catamaran provided compared to other boats in their fleet. It was easy to move around and get a close up look at the whales throughout the trip. The crew on both trips was great as always!
