Great time on the boat and under the water.

Boat captain Kimo was very responsible and fun to talk to. He was super helpful in getting the equipment ready and getting us in and out of the water safely and smoothly even with the rough waters that started up for the second dive.
Dive master Dave was super helpful and attentive to everyone despite the varied diving experience in our group. He pointed out interesting things, and made sure that we were having fun. I felt very safe and in good hands.
Nice snacks and drinks on board too. I was alone and was one of 4 other divers so we had plenty of room on the boat and we were able to maximize the diving experience. Snorkeling in between dives brought us into a nice area with large sea turtles and I have never been so close to them before.

Can you say whale watch as you head to dive site

Just finished a two tank dive in Hilo with Hilo Ocean Adventures (HOA). Both dives were great, with plenty of fish, turtles, dolphins, etc. I was surprised at the wide variety of coral. The dives were 40-50 mins each, in 25'-50'. The dive staff at HOA was great (conscientious and informative dive master Mark, helpful and friendly Captain Kimo). This trip will definitely be on my list every time I am in Hilo.

Dive shop is less than 5 min from the boat, and HOA provides transportation if you want. Indoor pool at the dive shop, in case you want a refresher course (my wife and I did).

I usually stay and dive in Kona when I visit the big island, but I tried Hilo this time. I wasn't expecting to dive in Hilo, but I ran across HOA and was surprised to find such a world-class shop and have such great dives right of town in Hilo.

Thanks HOA!
