More About Your Tour

Oahu Photography Tours offers you a unique opportunity to experience the infamous North Shore of Oahu. You’ll be in excitement on a sightseeing adventure curated intentionally to include unforgettable views that make for gorgeous photographs. Expect pristine beaches, pounding shore breaks, surfing daredevils, the green sea turtle, waterfalls, lush gardens, and this is only a taste of what’s to come!

You’ll kick start the day at Green World Coffee Farm, a small local farm known for producing excellent 100% Hawaiian coffee. Get your caffeine fix while acquainting yourself with the unique flavor locked in Hawaiian coffee. We will then get a photo of you next to the world-famous “Haleiwa” town sign!

Next, you head over to the legendary dive spot of Sharks Cove, a significant hotspot during the summer months for free-diving and scuba diving. Be consumed by the panoramic views and see if you can capture the atmosphere’s spaciousness in your photos!

Afterward, you will be taken to Waimea Falls and enjoy a trolley ride to get an excellent vantage of the cascading waterfall where you can jump in if you have bathing shorts. You’ll be able to photograph this force of nature from a great perspective as it sprays mist and pounds water onto lava rocks. Ask your guide to show you how your smartphone can take fantastic photos of the falls. There will be time for you to explore the beautiful meandering pathways weaving through the flora and lush tropical jungle as you make our way back to the park entrance. You may even be lucky enough to spot a rare native Hawaiian bird perched on native trees – bring your zoom on this tour!

Next, you cruise over to the Banzai Pipeline in search of the perfect wave: crisp, fluid, and rolling. These are the kind of waves you’ll find only on Oahu’s North Shore, a top Oahu attraction for surf lovers. Stretching for more than 7 miles, the spectacular beaches of the North Shore host the world’s premier surfing competitions during the peak wintertime months, including the Super Bowl of wave riding and the Vans Triple Crown of surfing. These massive waves can sometimes swell up to fifty feet! The big, glassy winter waves of this legendary surf mecca attract the best surfers in the world.

Before heading to lunch, you will stop by Turtle Beach to look for the basking Hawaii Green Sea Turtles. Being one of the only sea turtles in the world that lays itself on the white sand, you will have the chance to capture one of a kind photographs of the prehistoric reptile. A local volunteer group will be able to tell you who is lying on the beach along with their weight, age, and sex. It’s an excellent site to see, and unfortunately, we cannot guarantee you will see the turtles on the beach, but we will make sure to do our very best to make that happen.

Oahu’s North Shore is also home to a flourishing food truck and local food scene, and we take full advantage of this delicious variety of food by stopping in to enjoy lunch. There is a hui (a lot) of meals to choose from to please every pallet: Enjoy anything from garlic shrimp, fresh fish, and jambalaya to giant burgers and Acai bowls right on the outskirts of Haleiwa! Oh, so ono!

To walk off the meal, you can stroll through the charming old town of Haleiwa, a pleasant local town filled with local style, country ambiance, classic surf shops, boutiques, and art galleries. Locals say that if you want to experience the atmosphere of Hawaii from 50 years ago, visit the North Shore! For those who love a real-time warp, this is a must-do activity on Hawaii’s North Shore.

Before heading back to Waikiki, we’re sure to take you to get a “shave ice” treat to top off a day of terrific memories and fantastic photos!

You don’t want to go home only to tell people you didn’t go to the North Shore of Oahu. That’s like saying you went to Washington D.C and didn’t see the white house. You found the best tour of the North Shore, now it’s time to find the day you are coming.

When and how do we get picked up?

We pick you up at your hotel in Waikiki. If your hotel is outside of Waikiki, which is from the Ala Moana Hotel to the end of Kalakaua, we ask you to make your way to the paid parking area of the Honolulu Zoo. Sunrise and Complete Island Tours pick you up one hour prior to sunrise. The Sunset tour picks you up four hours prior to sunset. Full Moon is one hour prior to moonrise.

Where do we not pick up?

If your hotel’s zip code is not 96815, then you need to go to the Honolulu Zoo parking area for pick-up. We do not pick up anywhere outside the Waikiki area. This includes the Kahala Hotel, Moana Valley Inn, the Ymca, Kailua, Pearl City, North Shore, Ko’Olina, the west side, east side, leeward side, Hawaii Kai, and all military bases. The Waikiki area holds most of the hotels on the island. Please check with your hotel as to where it is located. We ask that you make your way to the Honolulu Zoo for pick-up. Please contact us if you are not sure where your hotel is located on the island.

Do I need to know how to take photos?

No! You do not need to have any experience in photography to join any of our tours. We know that sometimes people feel that they cannot take photos, but let us show you that you can.

What is included with the tour?

With each photography tour, you are provided a tripod to help you capture clear and crisp photos of everything and anything. We have rain gear for everyone on board. If we happen to be out when it starts to rain, we got you covered, literally. Also with every tour, we bring along information books about the island.

Should I bring my own camera?

Yes! Bring your camera. Bring whatever it is that you take pictures with. Our Oahu photo tours are not just for those who have decided to invest hundreds of dollars into their camera equipment. We don’t care if you take pictures with an iPad or a Polaroid. As long as you bring something to capture the beauty with you, you’ll be fine.

May disabled people come on tour?

We do not have access for physically disabled people. Again, call us and let us know your concerns and we will be happy to help.

What is the cancellation policy?

To receive a full refund you must contact us directly prior to 48 hours of your tour. Any time after that no refund will be given. Refunds may take up to two weeks to refund the balance.

Reschedule Policy

You must reschedule your tour before 48 hours of the start time of your tour. Anytime after that a $25 per person + tax fee will be applied. Once you reschedule, you will not be eligible for any refund if you decide to cancel.

Do we get a stop for food?

Yes, we will stop to grab something small to eat during the tour (not included in the tour price). We recommend you bring cash for some places that do not accept credit cards.

What about rainy weather?

The weather in Hawaii is, for the most part, beautiful, but sometimes we can get a little rain. The tours always go out when the forecast is calling for scattered showers. This great chance to capture unique photographs, possibly rainbows, and waterfalls off the Ko’olau cliffs. On rare occasions, we have flash flood warnings and lightning. If this occurs we still go head with the tour. After all, this is a photography tour and bad weather presents great possibilities for amazing photographs. However, if the weather continues with unsafe conditions, then the tour will be canceled and you will have the option of rescheduling or receiving a 75% refund. The call to cancel will be one hour after pick-up.

A great day out on the North Shore with Alex. After a quick stop for coffee we visited several beach locations, Waimea Falls (a highlight) and the town of Haleiwa for lunch. We learned many photography tips from Alex who was informative and lots of fun to talk to. We are a family of four - 2 adults and 2 kids 13 & 17 - the tour suited us all. A bonus was a wonderful set of photos taken by Alex and sent to us before the day was out. Highly recommend this tour.

My husband and I joined North Shore photo tour. Even though we can not understand English so well, we really enjoyed the tour. DJ, our tour guide is so enthusiastic! He showed me how to use iPhone and it was very new to me. We saw hundreds of plants in botanical garden and birds, dolphins and two turtles in north shore.
Very unique tour.
