Intro to Scuba Diving Maui
Breathe underwater during your Maui vacation by trying scuba diving.
We invite you to meet us at our headquarters (aka our house) in Lahaina for your intro to scuba diving lessons, where we start with a safety briefing, select your gear, and drive to the dive site. Please inform us if you will not have a rental car. Do you love sea turtles? This introductory scuba dive is the best activity to encounter a Green Turtle underwater!
It’s essential to learn the magic of scuba diving in a safe environment, so our Maui dive shop guarantees small group sizes led by an experienced, attentive, and professional PADI instructor. All of our beginner dives provide you with personalized attention, and whenever possible, private diving lessons.
Every morning we begin your Discover Scuba Dive with a briefing about safety, necessary skills, and hand-signals. Your dive instructor takes you through each confidence-building exercise before entering the ocean. You first get comfortable with your new skills on the surface and then practice them again at a shallow depth. Your skills practice finishes up by signaling to each other that we are all feeling okay! At last, we use our lungs to hover off the sand, kick our fins, and swim away from shore to explore coral reefs at the best Maui dive sites in Lahaina.
The island of Maui has almost year-round optimal sea conditions in sunny Lahaina, Kaanapali, and Kapalua. So booking this guided activity means you will see a full array of colorful Hawaiian marine life, such as turtles, sharks, octopus, endemic fish, and colorful coral reefs. From December to April, scuba divers and snorkelers on Maui even hear male Humpback Whales’ songs during the winter. The whales roam local Pacific channels near Molokini Crater, Honolua Bay, Lanai Cathedrals, and Molokai.
Please note that your Discover Scuba Dive is an experience program only and does not qualify for any dive certifications. However, it may be possible to use your intro to scuba diving as credit towards earning a PADI Open Water Diver certification. If you want to get certified on Maui, check out our scuba courses section for all the details.
What to Expect for Your Beginner Dive
Mornings are the best time for excellent visibility underwater, so we meet at 8:30 am for most excursions. We guarantee the best Maui diving adventures by choosing the spot the day before and emailing details to you. Look for an updated email before 5 pm with meetup instructions.
Our Maui dive shop setup offers you maximum convenience. We start with your lesson and gear fitting at our headquarters in Lahaina. We then drive to the dive site, gear up, and walk into the ocean with our equipment. You have the opportunity to make two scuba dives per day, and we discount every additional tank to $79 per person. A second lesson allows us to explore a large dive site’s entirety or visit a completely different area. Your second dive is often even more spectacular than the first one because learning from our passionate and professional team establishes confidence in your scuba diving abilities, making you all the more relaxed on that second dive.
Your first Discover Scuba Dive tour will finish around 11 am. If you choose to dive again with us, you will complete two dives by 1:30 pm. Please remember that all divers cannot ascend or drive anywhere above 1000 feet for at least 18 hours after two scuba dives. Maui has many roads that take you above 1000 feet, such as Makawao and Kula. It is imperative to plan your vacation accordingly if you hope to drive up Haleakala or go zip-lining.
We capture your introductory dive with a photo and video package. You can request this service on your reservation form during checkout. It is a popular add-on and available for $60. So, book online now to secure your Hawaii scuba diving plans!
