Grand Circle Island Tour
Duration: 11-12 Hours

Adult: $185
Child 12 and under: $165

Experience 8 out of 13 Climate Zones in the World!

This full day nature tour offers an in-depth look at Hawaii’s youngest and largest island. From desert to rainforest, pasture to dry forest, discover diverse landscapes and 8 out of 13 climate zones in the world as you traverse the island, walk through rainforests to soaring waterfalls, and stroll black-sand beaches as you scan the horizon for green sea turtles.

The morning is filled with visits to some of the most majestic waterfalls on the Big Island. First, the views will stop you in your tracks at the Waipio Valley lookout, where a dramatic backdrop of verdant cliffs drops into the sparkling blue ocean. Continuing on the drive along the Hamakua Coast, more postcard-worthy views will pass by your window, ushering you to the next destination, Akaka Falls. This towering 442-foot (135-meter) waterfall plummets into a lush ravine at the center of a state park. You’ll enjoy a short walk through the vegetation for an up-close view and plenty of photo opportunities. Next stop is a waterfall that’s small by comparison, but not by beauty: Rainbow Falls, a beautiful 80-foot (24-meter) waterfall with a giant banyan tree beside it.

In the afternoon, explore the wonders of Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, including steam vents, past lava flow sites, the Halema’uma’u and Kilauea Iki crater lookouts, and take a short hike along crater rim trail. From there, you will have time to relax and take it all in at Punalu’u Black Sand Beach, a great place to spot marine life from the black-sand shore.

On the leisurely drive back around sunset, you’ll see views of South Point, the southernmost point of the United States, and Kealakekua Bay. If time permits, we will stop at a Kona Coffee farm for some coffee tasting or the famous Punalu’u Bakery to conclude the day.

Note: Depending on weather condition and sunset time, the tour may operate in reverse route.

Big Island Grand Circle Island Tour w/excellent tour guides Nate and Eric

We did the Big Island Grand Circle Island Tour on the 3rd of April. Slightly apprehensive about spending an entire day travelling the island on a guided tour but so incredibly glad we did. I highly doubt we would have seen or learned as much as we did had we not booked with Wasabi Tours.

Fortunate to have two fantastic tour guides who were both so incredibly knowledgeable. So many highlights and beautiful sights along the 9 to 10 hour tour- Volcano National Parks, Waipio Valley, Rainbow falls, Akaka falls etc. You visit so many spots along the way it's hard to remember the names of them all. Kicking the tour off with Coffee tasting and a small lava tube walk at the Royal Kona Museum and Coffee Mill was a great start.

We certainly learned a lot about the Island. Eric's geological knowledge was invaluable, and together he and Nate made a great team.

What really made this tour was how genuinely Nate spoke about the Island, not only educating us about the nice places we visited but also the the history, the culture (and the resurgence of) and the future of the island.

I would highly recommend this tour to anyone wanting a Big Island experience, you definitely won't get bored or tired- there is so much to take in!

Big Island Grand Circle Island Tour: excellent way to see the Big Island!

I highly recommend the Big Island Grand Circle Island Tour with Wasabi. We had already explored some of the island in our rental car, but this tour took us in a complete circle all around the island to places we would never have thought to visit. We saw waterfalls, the volcano national park, and we made so many stops during the day at little places we probably would have missed on our own.

The best part was our guide, Dreu, who was an excellent guide. He talked non-stop throughout the day, sharing information about everything we passed, and he answered all our questions about the island. He was very, very knowledgeable and it's clear that he loves what he does.

The price was very reasonable for a full day tour that covered about 300 miles of driving.
