Learn the fundamental rules and guidelines of safe scuba diving with a PADI Professional. This unique experience will put non-certified divers (and certified diver friends together) in the beautiful waters of Kauai

First-time (non-certified) divers will experience the PADI Discover Scuba Diving Program, which covers the fundamental rules and guidelines of safe scuba diving. All non-certified divers will have a detailed, hands-on orientation covering all of the important aspects of diving to be aware of. You’ll receive extensive overview of the equipment and how it properly works and then learn 3 basic scuba skills you’ll be putting into practice. After satisfactorily completing the skills portion of your lesson, you are qualified to dive to a maximum depth of 40 feet under the direct Supervision of our professional PADI Instructors.

Those with a true sense of adventure can book the Discover Scuba Dive – Ocean Experience. We will meet you directly at our shore dive site location to conduct the lesson, go over the skills and then put you face to face with our famous Hawaiian Green Sea Turtle.

True beginners who are a bit more apprehensive and perhaps uncomfortable in the ocean waters will want to start with our Discover Scuba Dive – Pool Experience. This program is conducted at one of our several area hotel pools helping students gain the confidence while learning in the confined water of a pool. Once you have mastered the basics in the pool, we encourage you to join us for the Discover Scuba Dive – Ocean Experience where you can be face to face with Kauai’s unique marine life.

The Discover Scuba Dive - Ocean Experience is just that - a chance to experience what scuba diving is all about!

Ratios are 4 divers to 1 instructor. We'll start with a 20-25 min briefing to go over all of the if's, and's, what's and how's that you'll need to know. We walk you through all of the gear and how to use it. Then we enter the water to practice 3 skills. Upon the successful completion of these skills we'll go for the dive or dives!

We always recommend 2 dives because the site is a "U" Shaped Reef and you'll get to dive on both sides of the reef!

Of course, you will ALWAYS be able to add the 2nd dive right there at the dive site if you're unsure now.

DIVER MEDICAL | Participant Questionnaire

Required for ALL Non-Certified divers (Discover Scuba Dive & Certification Courses)

Recreational scuba diving and free diving requires good physical and mental health. There are a few medical conditions which can be hazardous while diving. Those who have, or are predisposed to, any of these conditions, should be evaluated by a physician. This Diver Medical Participant Questionnaire provides a basis to determine if you should seek out that evaluation. If you have any concerns about your diving fitness not represented on this form, consult with your physician before diving. If you are feeling ill, avoid diving. If you think you may have a contagious disease, protect yourself and others by NOT participating in dive training and/or dive activities. References to “Diving on this form encompass both recreational scuba diving and free diving. This form is principally designed as an initial medical screen for new divers, but is also appropriate for divers taking continuing education. For your safety, and that of others who may dive with you, please answer ALL questions honestly!

PLEASE NOTE: All Non-Certified Divers and Students of Certification Courses with Kauai Down Under will be REQUIRED to complete this electronically on your booking confirmation. Should you feel you may need medical clearance for any of the questions on the form, please PRINT the form and submit to your physician to complete PRIOR to your dive.

Fantastic First Dive
This was my first scuba diving experience and it could not have gone better. I went with a friend who is a certified diver. He gave me plenty of pointers, just in case the instructors didn't provide enough instruction. But they covered everything and were very patient as I figured out how to properly breathe and dealt with some mild anxiety. They never tried to rush us, as they wanted us to have a completely safe and fun time. We lost count of the number of sea turtles we saw and even though visibility was slightly low, we still had an amazing time. I absolutely recommend Kauai Down Under Scuba.

Awesome dive! Great first intro to scuba diving if you’ve never done it before. Leaves you wanting to get certified and keep going! Logan was fantastic - gave a very good explanation of safety measures, what to look for, how to do everything, etc. Coming from someone who is also in the outdoor recreation/guiding business, Logan did such a good job building rapport, making sure everyone was comfortable with one thing before taking the next step, and bring the enthusiasm and stoke to diving. We had two different skill levels of divers and he was awesome about focusing on the new divers while also giving the experienced diver more autonomy and independence. This is exactly what I wanted for a first dive and I think everyone should have an experience like this, especially if you’re on vacation! Plus we saw several sea turtles, eels, and lots of cool fish. Definitely worth it!
